Arrival at Baltra airport. Reception and accompaniment to purchase a bus ticket for the Aereopuerto – Canal de Itabaca route. Transfer by ferry to the island of Santa Cruz (10 minutes of travel). Arrive to Santa Cruz Island. Stop in highlands of Santa Cruz where you will visit a Giant Tortoise Reserve for an easy hike to observe to Giant Tortoises in their natural habitat, the lava tunnels and the Gemelos, afterwards, Transfer to the hotel and check in (L) (D)
After breakfast, pick up and transfer to Puerto Ayora, for a guided walking visit of Tortuga Bay one of South America’s most beautiful beaches, afterward visit The Charles Darwin Research Station where you’ll learn by first hand, the conservation and research efforts in the Galapagos Islands. See the tortoise hatchlings and breeding programs that are saving several races of tortoises from extinction. Also, the opportunity to see the giant Galapagos tortoises. Really early in the morning, we will take the fast boat to Isabela Island where we will arrive at Puerto Villamil. A short distance from Puerto Villamil is the small island known as ‘Las Tintoreras’. We may have the opportunity to see a small colony of penguins recently established in Puerto Villamil, often resting side by side with Blue Footed Boobies. Here a colony of white tip sharks may often be seen resting in a lava canal. You may snorkel or swim around this island. In the afternoon return by shared speed boat back to Puerto Ayora. (B, L, D)
