The Galapagos Islands were part of the Eighth Congress of Tourism Research in Latin America

16Nov

The Congress of Tourism Research in Latin America is held every 2 years in a different city in the region. It is also considered one of the most outstanding research events in the field of tourism. In its edition 2018, the Tourism Research Congress took place in Cancun, Mexico. Researchers from Latin America and the world were invited to this convention.

During the event, information was given to attendees on topics related to tourism of the Galapagos Islands. One of the topics was the use of new technologies that follow up the tourism in the islands. These tools have provided valuable information regarding the negative and positive effects of tourist activities at the Galapagos.

Another topic discussed at the conference was the “Divesat”. It is a tool used to observe diving activity, determine the characteristics of divers and establish the impacts that this activity has on marine ecosystems. All the information collected is a great help to the preservation of the Galapagos Islands Marine Reserve.

Casa Natura Galapagos believes that research will strengthen tourism activities in the Galapagos, creating less impact on nature and increasing positive experiences among visitors. Activities such as diving, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking and bird are available, while touring in the Islands Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, and Isabela that Casa Natura can offer you.
